Today First Lady Michelle Obama capped off a celebration of Women’s HisHerstory Month by visiting Ballou Senior High School. Throughout March the White House sent out celebrity mentors to DC and metropolitan area schools to talk about career goals and personal dreams. Schools that participated include: Dunbar High School (guests Alicia Keys and General Ann Dunwoody), Wilson High School (guests Sheryl Crow and Mae Jemison), Bell Multicultural High School (guest Debbie Allen), and Coolidge High School (guests Lisa Leslie and Bobbi Brown).

Congratulations to the nine DC high school students awarded Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Scholarships!! They will receive full rides to The George Washington University. Seven of the students will be graduating from DC public and charter schools: Adam Middleton and Chidi Agbaeruneke of Benjamin Banneker High School; Sarai Reed of Duke Ellington School of the Arts; Hope Ajayi of McKinley Technology Senior High School; Alena Russell of School Without Walls Senior High School; and Markus Batchelor and Moo Bae of Thurgood Marshall Public Charter High School.
